Nashville, TN (March 5, 2018) - peermusic Nashville has signed multi-platinum songwriter / producer Justin Weaver, to a worldwide publishing agreement for future works as announced today by Michael Knox, Vice President, peermusic Nashville.

Some of Weaver’s hit singles include the 4X Platinum, #1 single from Meghan Trainor featuring John Legend, “Like I’m Gonna Lose You; the 3X Platinum #1 Country Airplay by Brantley Gilbert “Bottoms Up”; Gary Allen “Get Off On The Pain”; Kip Moore “I’m To Blame”; and Chris Cagle “Got My Country On.”

Weaver has also had cuts by Dustin Lynch, Joe Nichols, Meat Loaf, Montgomery Gentry, Randy Houser, Kristy Lee Cook, Josh Turner, Eli Young Band, to name a few, along with numerous co-writes with long-time friend Jason Aldean.

“I’m a big fan of Justin and what he does,” said Michael Knox. “I’m more excited that I get to watch him go to the next level as a songwriter and producer.  He’s come a long way since I first met him back in the day as Jason Aldean’s band leader.”

“Michael Knox has been an inspiration and mentor to me since before I moved to Nashville. In addition to working with Michael, peermusic’s proven and energetic staff and roster full of talented co-writers already feel like family. My songwriting and production careers have come full circle by joining the peermusic family and I’m exited about this next phase.”

Growing up in Forsyth, Georgia, Justin Weaver played in bands throughout high school and toured most of the Southeast playing with Jason Aldean. He stopped touring for a few years to go to college, graduating from Gordon College with an AS in Business and then graduating Cum Laude from Georgia College & State University with a BA in Business Administration. After graduating from GC&SU he moved to Nashville, signed a publishing deal, and has been songwriting since.

peermusic Nashville’s office is led by Michael Knox – a music industry veteran who knows a thing or two about making a hit. Knox has 20 #1 songs under his belt as a producer, over 40 million singles and 18 million albums sold during his career. In addition to discovering Jason Aldean, being a top publisher and having an artist management business, Knox’s production credits include Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry, Kelly Clarkson, Ludacris, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Frankie Ballard, Josh Thompson, Tyler Rich, Michael Tyler, as well as the late, legendary Buddy Knox, who is also his father. Knox has also served on the ACM Board of Directors (current), CMA Board of directors and GRAMMY Special Committees.

At peermusic Nashville, Knox oversees a first-rate group of songwriters who know the company is in it for the long haul when it comes to building a songwriter’s career. Legendary Country music pioneer, Jimmie Rodgers, was one of the first writers signed to peermusic back in 1927 by the company founder Ralph S. Peer and would later become one of the first performers inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Over 90 years later, the company still publishes the Rodgers catalog, and he has even signed a descendant of Jimmie Rodgers, Michael Tyler, to a publishing deal. In the summer of 1927, Peer also recorded The Carter Family and other acts in a series of sessions known as The Bristol Sessions, which Johnny Cash once called “the single most important event in the history of country music.” Peer also played a role in founding BMI, an early champion of country music. Today, Knox ensures that the company’s rich history of championing songwriters with its Nashville office remains as strong as ever.

Since its establishment, peermusic has distinguished itself from its competitors by retaining the ethos of an independent and global family business driving significant progress in a rapidly changing competitive market. Peermusic’s company culture cultivates well-informed professional leadership with a unique holistic working knowledge of the business. This has produced nearly a century of consistent growth and helped make peermusic one of the most successful independent music publishers in the world.
