“Nature’s Voice Is A Cry” is the latest single by recording artist Emmett Kai. The single comes almost a year after his last release, hinting at a full length album with a Y2K themed cover and an even deeper exploration into EK’s self identified freakpop genre. The 29 year old artist has isolated himself from cities and the mundane humm of metro lifestyle over the last two-ish years since the pandemic, focusing on building a home with his partner and producing and writing for other artist’s projects.

“I tend to think of myself as having many different personalities that don’t get along. Freak Pop is my self defined world that I created for myself and those personalities to live in. The people that search the nooks and crannies for safety pins and cigarette butts. The people that grew up with very little knowledge on what’s cool and what isn’t. I drove across the United States twice during the pandemic and got to meet infinite personalities on the road as well as landing in situations that most people will never find themselves in. As a kid, we used to skate from town to town smoking weed and half cigarettes we’d find in ashtrays outside of gas stations with transients. We’d steal, fight, break into shit, and basically just be kids. My friends and I would get LSD and put it in our eyes like visine drops. We’d do graffiti under highways and run from yard patrol. These moments are my art and I’ve already lived enough for a thousand people.”
