Legendary Canadian icon Corey Hart has returned with a profound new single “Dinosaurs.”

The ebullient, upbeat track musically plays counterintuitive to the poignant subject matter and raw emotions contained throughout the song’s lyrics.

I’m falling down the same road
After all these years
See Van Gogh in my mirror cry
Tears won’t hear the fears

The track is an autobiographical reflection on Hart’s decades-old struggle against back pain, fortified by the love of his life, Quebec chanteuse Julie Masse (“Maggie").

And I don't know where we’re headed tonight, but I know it’s gonna be with you
Maggie, you’re the only woman who braves my heart for true

“Dinosaurs” was inspired by the Vietnamese Buddhist Monk Thích Nhất Hạnh, who wrote the book No Mud, No Lotus: The Art of Transforming Suffering, suggesting that the secret to happiness is to fully embrace pain or suffering and not run from it.

The new music arrives with an intimate and cinematic video filmed on location in Spain and directed by Toronto based Peter Guzda, who previously collaborated with Hart on his “Dreaming Time Again” music video in 2019.

Of the new single, Hart says:

I’m very grateful to still have the opportunity of sharing my music with the world. I’ve battled against debilitating chronic back pain since injuring myself in a sports trauma eighteen years ago. In plain talk — my spine has been fucked ever since.

My cervical vertebrae were fused in a surgery years ago, but I've rarely discussed, publicly or privately, my ongoing plight with this wickedly pernicious of enemies. In 2021, I herniated three more disks. One year later, I wrote “Dinosaurs.” I felt it was important to release this single.

We all ‘pay the ransom’ in some way, shape or form. No one gets a free ride in life.

I hope the song inspires reconciliation, courage, and even peacefulness whenever your own "dinosaurs get mad."

When we know how to suffer, we invariably suffer much much less. I remind myself all the time whenever trapped in the "perils of my dark despair."

No mud, no lotus flower.

So…let it roll, man.
