Beau The Musical has received nominations at both the Outer Critics Circle Awards and the Drama League Awards, marking a significant milestone for the acclaimed Off-Broadway production. The recognition highlights the continued success of the show, which features music by peermusic songwriters Ethan D. Pakchar and Douglas Lyons, with lyrics and book by Lyons.
Conceived and written by Douglas Lyons, Beau The Musical tells the story of Ace Baker, a young queer singer-songwriter whose life is transformed after discovering that his presumed-deceased grandfather is still alive. Set between Nashville and Memphis, the production blends heartfelt storytelling with a dynamic score performed by a cast of actor-musicians, exploring themes of family, identity, and reconciliation.
Directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, the production is currently running at The Distillery at St. Luke’s Theatre in New York City following a successful world premiere run in the West Village, which was extended due to strong audience response. Developed through readings and presentations at institutions including Roundabout Theatre Company, Lincoln Center, and The Musical Theatre Factory, the show has steadily built momentum, culminating in its current Off-Broadway success and awards recognition.
