Legendary Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame on September 26, 2026, at Toronto’s Massey Hall, recognizing one of the most influential songwriting catalogs in Canadian music history. Known for iconic songs including “Bobcaygeon” and “Ahead by a Century,” the band’s induction celebrates decades of cultural impact and storytelling that has resonated with audiences in Canada and around the world.
The ceremony, presented by Amazon Music, will feature live performances and tributes from Canadian and international artists, and will be livestreamed globally via Twitch and Prime Video. In a statement, the band shared their appreciation for the honor, noting it is “humbling” to join past inductees while acknowledging the absence of their late bandmate and lyricist Gord Downie, whose legacy remains central to the group’s enduring influence.
With more than 14 million albums sold worldwide and 17 Juno Awards to their name, The Tragically Hip have long stood as a cornerstone of Canadian music. Their induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame further cements their legacy as one of the country’s most important and beloved songwriting voices.
