The Library of Congress has announced its 2026 National Recording Registry inductees, and peermusic is proud to celebrate several recordings featuring songs from our catalog among the 25 titles selected for permanent preservation.

Acting Librarian of Congress Robert R. Newlen named the inductees "audio treasures worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation's recorded sound heritage," bringing the registry's total to 700 titles.

Beyoncé – "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)"

Co-written/produced by Tricky Stewart, Beyoncé's 2008 smash became what the Library of Congress called "the cultural moment of 2008 and most of '09 as well." Released as a single from her album I Am…Sasha Fierce, the song's induction marks the first time a Beyoncé recording has been selected for the registry — a fitting milestone for one of the defining pop anthems of the 21st century.

Pérez Prado – "Mambo No. 5"

The 1950 recording that helped bring the mambo craze to the world earns its place in the permanent American sound canon. "Mambo No. 5" remains one of the most recognizable recordings in the Latin catalog and a cornerstone of peermusic's heritage.

Ray Charles – Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music (1962)

Ray Charles' landmark album — a genre-defying reimagining of country standards through the lens of R&B and soul — features three songs from the peermusic catalog. Floyd Tillman's "I Love You So Much It Hurts" and "It Makes No Difference Now" (co-written by Tillman and Jimmie Davis) and Ted Daffan's "Born to Lose" are all part of the peermusic family, and their inclusion on what became one of the most celebrated albums in American music history speaks to the enduring power of great songwriting. The album topped the Billboard pop charts and is widely credited with breaking down barriers between country and popular music audiences.

Under the National Recording Preservation Act of 2000, the Librarian of Congress selects 25 titles each year that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant to America's recorded sound heritage.

Congratulations to all of this year's inductees — and to the songwriters, artists, and collaborators who made these recordings part of the American story.
