Neil Thrasher

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Neil has been surrounded by music his entire life. Influenced by both sides of his family, Neil grew up watching his father and uncles perform Grammy® winning southern gospel group, The Thrasher Brothers. It was only natural that Neil would follow in his family’s footsteps.

Neil began singing and touring with various bands throughout college and eventually landed a recording contract with Asylum Records in 1995. Neil was one half of the duo Thrasher Shiver, with writing partner Kelly Shiver. The two parted in 1997, but by that time Neil was focusing on his songwriting. After a few years of recording his own music, other artists began to notice and start cutting his songs. Neil was passionat eabout his music, and it paid off when he was named ASCAP Songwriter of the Year in 2004.

Neil has been a peermusic writer since 2011 and has penned several No. 1 songs during his time including ASCAP’s 2013 Country Song of the Year “How Country Feels,” recorded by Randy Houser. He also penned Jason Aldean’s platinum-selling “Tattoos On This Town,” “Fly Over States” and “Night Train.”

Neil has enjoyed other chart toppers such as "There Goes My Life" (7 weeks #1) and "I Lost It" recorded by Kenny Chesney; "I Melt", "Fast Cars And Freedom"(4 weeks #1), "Take Me There," "Why Wait" and “Banjo” recorded by Rascal Flatts; "Somebody Said A Prayer" by Billy Ray Cyrus," Some People Change", by Montgomery Gentry and "What Do You Say" and "Strange" recorded by Reba McEntire to name a few.

Thrasher has had songs recorded by some of country music's biggest acts including, Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Montgomery Gentry, Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Diamond Rio, Martina McBride, Billy Ray Cyrus and others.

Neil won a Dove Award award in 2010 from the Gospel Music Association for the Country Recorded Song of the Year,"Somebody Like Me," and his most recent effort, “Ain’t No Trucks In Texas,” by Ronnie Dunn, is impacting now.

When not writing, producing or singing on the next project you most likely will find Neil on the golf course, hunting or spending time with his family.
