
Kentucky born and Georgia raised Michael Wayne Wilkes got his 1st guitar at age 12 and there was no looking back! Consuming everything from classic, southern and alternative Rock to Country, Blues and Soul, Michael became 1st chair guitarist of the Award Winning Stone Mountain High School Jazz Ensemble under the direction of the esteemed Melvin J. Hodges. This led to a stint studying Jazz Guitar at Georgia State University. After a series of Rock bands that flirted with record label success he soon became an in demand backing lead guitarist in the Atlanta Music Scene. He has performed all over the world from dive bars to the Grand Ole Opry to USO Tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and also the better part of 10 years playing worship music for North Point Ministries’ many campuses in and around Atlanta.
After setting his sights on songwriting and producing he made Nashville his home, landing his 1st Publishing deal with David Lee Murphy and Doug Casmus. Mentored by the likes of Brett Beavers and Steve Bogard, Wilkes has found a tight community of collaborators in Music City.
Recently signed to PEERMUSIC Nashville, his cuts include: Michael Ray (“Hold”) Warner Nashville. Stephen Wilson Jr. (“Calico Creek”) from his critically acclaimed Big Loud Records debut album “son of dad”. He also co-produced and co-wrote Carson Beyer’s current single “In The Dust” released via Twelve6 Entertainment.
