Phoelix is a producer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist whose genre-blurring sound sits at the intersection of soul, hip-hop, jazz, and experimental R&B. Originally from Aurora, Illinois — just outside Chicago — and now based in Arkansas, he brings a uniquely Midwestern authenticity to everything he creates.
A frequent collaborator with some of today’s most innovative artists, Phoelix has contributed to projects by Noname, Smino, and Saba, helping define the sound of Chicago’s new wave. He was a core producer on Noname’s acclaimed Telefone and Room 25, and co-founded the Zero Fatigue collective alongside Smino and Monte Booker. His creative reach extends even further, having worked with Lizzo on “The Sign” and Leon Bridges, solidifying his place as a sought-after voice in modern music.
As a solo artist, Phoelix made a powerful debut with Tempo (2017), blending introspective lyricism with lush, groove-driven production. He later joined Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, and 9th Wonder to form the supergroup Dinner Party.
Rooted in gospel, jazz, and hip-hop, Phoelix’s work is defined by its emotional depth, technical mastery, and fearless experimentation — a sound that defies boundaries and continues to evolve.
