If you are a parent with a child 16 or under, chances are you have heard Elizabeth Mitchell’s “You Are My Sunshine” many, many times.
Mitchell released the album that featured the song as the title track in 2002. Now she has released another beautiful version of “You Are My Sunshine," this time in Spanish. There’s a little more kick to this one, and it’s a duet with the Argentine singer Suni Paz, herself a children’s music institution and one of Mitchell’s heroes.
"Tú Eres Mi Sol" is the first single from Mitchell and Paz’s album Tú Eres Mi Flor, which comes out April 6 on the Smithsonian Folkways label. With a Spanish version of a song for even the youngest of generations, kids and their parents will be singing in Spanish whether they speak it or not.
