María Pérez de Hernández Passes Away

The peermusic family would like to express their sincerest condolences to the Hernández family regarding the loss of their dearest mother, María Pérez de Hernández.  Her soul now rests alongside her beloved husband, Rafa, and her oldest son Pocholo.  Our founder Ralph S. Peer had the deep fortune to develop a relationship with the late great Rafael Hernández and represent one of history’s most beloved catalogs. Their fateful mid-century meeting has left a legacy that the world can cherish well beyond the 21st century. Iconic songs such as Lamento Borincano, Preciosa, and El Cumbanchero to name a few, continue to live in Puerto Rico’s heart and have inspired generations of songwriters. We stand in solidarity with Maria Pérez de Hernández, whose graceful presence was a center of love for the illustrious composer and his family.
