“Georgel and Kat Dahlia's team-up delivers "Que No Nos Importe", a sexy-cool track that celebrates freedom, love and letting go. Each artist has two distinct musical styles; one is more pop, the other is more urban. Together they shine brilliantly and hint at what's yet to come. – Justino Águila, Journalist, Billboard / Los Angeles Times
Los Angeles, CA. (Friday, December 13, 2019). Mexican singer-songwriter Georgel, pioneer in the Latin R&B movement, today releases his new single titled “Que No Nos Importe” in collaboration with Cuban-American singer and songwriter Kat Dahlia. The innovative song, which mixes R&B and soul, is a wonderful gem that serves as an invitation to surrender to unquenched desire. A sensual beat, captivating lyrics, combined with seductive vocals, envelop listeners in a haunting story, while whispers of love emerge from the shadows.
“Que No Nos Importe” was composed by Georgel, Kat Dahlia and Juan Pablo Vega, and produced by Vega at the iconic Desierto Casa Estudio in Mexico City.
The single debuts today alongside an ambitious music video that was shot in El Paso, TX. “Que No Nos Importe” follows the success of Georgel’s previous singles: “Meteorito”, “Colibrí” and “El Noa Noa”, a collaborations with Esteman, Raymix, and music legend Celso Piña. Georgel continues captivating the public and the press with his innovative productions, and “Que No Nos Importe” is no exception:
“Mexican singer-songwriter Georgel returns with a slick kiss-off track that embraces the R&B wave hitting Latin music. Cuban-American artist Kat Dahlia adds some edge to this cool collaboration”. Lucas Villa, Writer for Rolling Stone, Billboard, MTV News, and Remezcla.
“Having one’s own voice as an artist is the most difficult aspect for any young singer. For some it takes years. Others are touched by an inexplicable talent that reveals itself very early. One of these artists is Georgel, and it’s exemplified in his new song “Que No Nos Importe.” Georgel deserves special attention because, from an intriguing fusion of electronic music, and echoes of dance, he takes a chance on a piece of soul/funk that extends far beyond what one may expect from a new artist. There are obvious interpretative references to the great soul singers such as Otis Redding in the phrasing of his intense falsettos that emphasize the drama of the song. The production that frames his voice—a warm, light tenor—is flawless and elegant, ideal for the dance floor or for a leisurely night of seduction. The chorus is harnessed in his phrasing and refers to a theme consistent in the history of romantic music since medieval times: Losing the fear, facing desire, surrendering oneself to love. The production is so elegant and simple that Georgel’s devoted fans will surely beg for an acoustic version very soon. Few songs by a young artist unlock such a promising future to continue his career.”- David Dorantes
“Recently R&B as a genre has been more strongly established in Mexico, and whereas in Mexico City labels like “Finesse Records” continue nurturing new artists that are cultivating R&B and its subgenres, it’s in the north of the country where much of the new wave is developing, in particular a new wave from Monterrey. So while we may be seeing new artists emerge from places like Mexicali and Reynosa working arduously in this style, Monterrey is without a doubt the most fertile place in northern Mexico, where talents such as “Mené”, “Kiddie Goang”, “Tuzeint” and others are from…One of the most recent surprises is Georgel, who distinguishes himself from the rest of his countrymen with an impeccable production and a special guest in his most recent single “Que No Nos Importe”. In this song, Georgel splits the vocals with the Cuban-American Kat Dahlia (“Gangsta”), thus helping raise the level of production of a track that is more oriented toward the mainstream, with a sound that takes all the influences of his anglo contemporaries, but looks for its own language, musically and lyrically speaking. The production of the Monterrey-born singer was left in the hands of Juan Pablo Vega and was made at “Desierto Casa Estudio” in Mexico City…Regardless of the terrain from which it emerges, if the future of R&B continues sounding like this, then the genre is in good hands.” -Jesús Olvera, La Banda Elástica
“Que No Nos Importe” is an enthralling gem from Mexican artist and producer Georgel. On this one, the artist enlists the fierce talent of Cuban-American singer and songwriter Kat Dahlia, whose luscious vocals complement his own engaging verses, adding an extra layer of smoky texture to the track. Combined with a scintillating and sensual rhythmic backdrop, “Que No Nos Importe” draws listeners into its story with remarkably thrilling ease, stirring up all the intoxicating passion and spine-tingling excitement of a searing love affair. It’s sure to become a favorite on playlists everywhere. – Erica D’Aurora, Musical Notes Global
