Algerian born, Tottenham raised, Miraa May, one of the fiercest, most prodigiously talented and highly rated artists in UK has released her new single and video ‘Big Woman’ featuring the one and only, Stefflon Don.
The new single that dropped yesterday (Wednesday 26th January), as DJ Target’s Targo Embargo on 1Xtra, is a swaggering track propelled by the lyrical chemistry between Miraa May and Stefflon Don. The combination of these two UK queens, and producer Eyez, delivers a rap sound differing from Miraa’s last two singles – pop banger ‘Go Girl’ and the confessional R&B slow jam ‘In My Feelings’. All three will feature on Miraa’s upcoming TBA album, and like the rest of the album, all are built on powerful female energy. It’s a perfect anthem to kick off the New Year.

Miraa May is one of the most respected writers and artists in music. Since being discovered by Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Winehouse, The Fugees), the hugely prolific Miraa has collaborated with a who’s who of UK talent – including JME, Raye, Col3trane, WSTRN and many more. When not making her own music, she can has written for some of the hottest names in the game including Jorja Smith’s top 10 hit ‘Be Honest’ and Burna Boy as well as ‘Jealous’ by Mahalia and Rico Nasty. Her prowess as a writer saw her invited to an all-star writing camp in Jamaica alongside Cadenza, Amine, Proteje, Dre Skull, and Guilty Beatz to name a few (the sessions were filmed by The Face and turned into their ‘Voices of Jamaica’ documentary). She also starred in the video for Little Simz’ ‘Woman’ alongside other major female industry players such as ZeZe Millz, Jourdan Dunn and Joy Crookes. Her connections speak volumes about the high regard in which she’s held by her peers and contemporaries – a vital voice, artist and personality.
Last year, Miraa performed live at various festivals from TRNSMT, Tokyo World, Strawberries and Creem, Sound City and the Super Bock Festival in Lisbon. She also had the life changing experience of becoming a first-time mum at the beginning of the pandemic. And he began working on what would become her debut album, working almost entirely with a female team.
Miraa May is an unstoppable force who continues to share with the world her undeniable talents, with 2022 shaping up as her most exciting yet.
