International music icon and three-time GRAMMY® Award winner Jon Secada has joined forces with multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning pianist, composer, and producer Gonzalo Rubalcaba to record Fascination, a stunning new album celebrating the timeless music of Nat King Cole. This vibrant English and Spanish tribute celebrating the legacy of Nat King Cole with an international cast of musical greats will be released on all digital and streaming platforms on August 29, 2025, by Peermusic. Fascination reimagines some of Cole’s most cherished songs with lush arrangements, bilingual performances, and a blend of jazz, Latin, and pop influences. Secada’s emotive voice and Rubalcaba’s masterful piano artistry are joined by an ensemble of acclaimed guest musicians, making this a richly collaborative homage to one of the greatest voices of the 20th century.

“Nat King Cole’s voice and songs were part of my earliest memories,” says Secada. “His Spanish- language albums connected with my heritage, and his artistry was a model for crossing cultures through music. Fascination is a labor of love, and collaborating with these incredible musicians has made it even more special.”

The album features special guest performances from some of the finest artists in Latin and world music, including:

·         Mikaela Secada — Broadway singer/actress, whose warm, soulful vocals join her father on a

heartfelt rendition of “Unforgettable.”

·         Hamilton de Holanda — Virtuoso Brazilian mandolinist featured on “Acércate Más” and “Come Closer to Me.”

·         Aymée Nuviola — Multiple GRAMMY®-winning Cuban vocalist featured on the sultry “Quizás, Quizás.”

·         Jorge Glem — Venezuelan cuatro master featured on the romantic “Tres Palabras.”

The tender duet of “Unforgettable” with Secada’s daughter Mikaela captures the timeless elegance of Nat King Cole’s classic while infusing it with a deeply personal touch — a father’s pride and a daughter’s heartfelt voice blending in perfect harmony. The recording nods to the beloved 1991 version by Natalie Cole, who famously performed the song as a virtual duet with her late father. In a similar spirit, Secada and his daughter bring their own family bond and generational connection to the iconic song.

Rubalcaba adds, “Nat King Cole’s music speaks to the heart with an elegance that transcends generations. Jon’s voice brings that same sincerity, and together with our guest artists, we’ve honored his legacy while creating something fresh.”

Like Cole, Secada has enjoyed rare crossover success, topping charts in both English and Spanish. Nat King Cole famously recorded albums such as Cole Español and A Mis Amigos, expanding his audience across Latin America and Spain. Decades later, Secada followed a similar path with bilingual hits like “Just Another Day” and “Angel,” solidifying his place as one of the most successful Latin crossover artists of his era. This shared ability to bridge languages and cultures adds another layer of meaning to Fascination.

Mary Megan Peer, co-producer on the album and CEO, Peermusic, commented: “This project was deeply meaningful to us on a number of levels. In the 1950s, my grandfather, Ralph S. Peer [the founder of Peermusic], and my grandmother Monique became good friends with Nat King Cole and his brother Ike. Nat was at a highpoint in his career, having just had a Billboard #1 with an album that featured the Peermusic copyright “Stardust,” written by Hoagy Carmichael. Ralph and Monique encouraged Nat, who did not speak Spanish, to record a Spanish-language album phonetically. Cole Español garnered so much global success that Nat King Cole went on to release two more Spanish albums and his audience grew exponentially, making him one of the earliest crossover artists. When we started talking about this project, we knew that Jon Secada and Gonzalo Rubalcaba would result in an incredible collaboration. The combination of the history, the artists, the all-star musicians, and of course these iconic songs make this an important release.”

Julio Bagué, co-producer on the album and Vice President, Latin Division, Peermusic commented: “As a kid, my dad played Spanish-language Nat King Cole for me. Fast forward to having produced two prior Cuban music albums for Jon Secada, who is a crossover icon and a Peermusic songwriter, and we started to think this could be a great way to build on this legacy. For this album, we created an ensemble that was half English speaking and half Spanish speaking, extending the bi-lingual and bi-cultural inspiration.

Working with Jon, Gonzalo, and these incredible musicians we were able to radically re-imagine Cole’s recordings of these iconic songs. The approach was for Gonzolo to really spread out progressively, and that coupled with the sensibilities of Jon as an impactful commerical artist was something that was lightening in a bottle. I can’t wait for the music to get out there and see these songs reach new audiences.”

Produced by Julio Bagué and Mary Megan Peer and recorded with world-class musicians Gonzalo Rubalcaba (Piano/Keyboards), James Genus (Bass), Giovanni Hidalgo (Percussion), and Clarence Penn (Drums), Fascination offers heartfelt reinterpretations of Cole’s classics in both English and Spanish, reflecting the bilingual legacy that made both Cole and Secada trailblazers in global music.
