Peermusic, the world’s largest global independent music publishing and neighbouring rights company with 39 offices in 33 countries, has promoted Jody Farber to Chief Financial Officer as announced today by Ralph Peer, II, Executive Chair, Peermusic and Mary Megan Peer, CEO, Peermusic. Farber previously served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Strategy for Peermusic. Farber will report to Mary Megan Peer and will be based in New York.
In her new role, Jody Farber will oversee all financial activities for the company. She will work with a global team to promote financial health and operational excellence, overseeing global treasury, financial planning and budgeting, accounting and control, management reporting, and deal analysis. She will develop strategies to support business goals, working closely with peermusic’s global leadership team.
Jody Farber succeeds Bill Gorjance. After a distinguished career as the top finance leader for more than a half-dozen companies and boards, Gorjance is stepping down from his 20-year tenure as Peermusic’s CFO. While at Peermusic, Gorjance enabled the company to accelerate its growth – tripling its revenues in the past 10 years alone – by materially expanding and diversifying its global footprint, enabling greater deal flow, and strengthening its administrative and technical prowess. He led Peermusic’s global financial activities whilst simultaneously serving as International Vice President of the company’s Classical music division, a role he will continue part-time.
Ralph Peer, II and Mary Megan Peer commented: “During his twenty years with Peermusic, Bill has played a pivotal role in our growth and vision. He has been central to our expansions into Korea, China and neighboring rights, all of which have proved to be significant growth drivers for peermusic. His contributions go well beyond the financial and his wisdom has left an indelible mark on our company and writers.
As CFO, we are confident that Jody will ensure that peermusic’s profitable growth continues. In the two years she has been at peermusic, she has become an integral part of our global finance team. We know that she will bring continued commitment to financial integrity and operational excellence as we build successful partnerships with our songwriters and artists.”
Bill Gorjance commented: “This has been a dream job. I would like to express my gratitude—to the Peer family for entrusting me, to my family of colleagues for being so client-focused and team-oriented, and to our larger family of songwriters, composers and performers for putting their faith in Peermusic. I’m proud of the catalog we’ve continued to build, and happy to hand a debt-free balance sheet over to Jody. I have complete confidence in her leadership.”
Jody Farber commented: “I am truly grateful to Mary Megan, Bill and Ralph Peer for this opportunity. I am excited to carry forward the legacy that Bill established in this role. I look forward to leveraging my industry experience and finance expertise while collaborating with our global finance teams. Together we aim to serve our clients and business partners, ensuring the ongoing financial strength and success of our organization and our creative community.”
Farber has built a distinguished career spanning twenty-five years in accounting, finance and operations across the music and entertainment industry. She joined Peermusic in 2024 as Senior Vice President, Finance and Strategy. Prior to joining Peermusic, she served as Assistant Controller/Vice President, Financial Reporting & Accounting for World Wrestling Entertainment; Vice President, Reporting for Warner Music Group; Chief Financial Officer & Board Director for Warner Music South Africa (Pty) Ltd; Financial Controller for The Collective; Director of Finance for Warner Music Group: and worked in the finance division for Sony Music Entertainment South Afica (Pty) Ltd. She also previously served as Chief Financial Officer for loveLife Trust, an HIV prevention non-profit organization in South Africa.
Jody Farber previously served on the boards of Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA); RisA Audio Visual (RAV); and the finance committees of RiSA and the South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA). She holds B.S. in Accounting and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand; and is a Certified Public Accountant (US) and a Chartered Accountant (SA).
