
Uniquely talented composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Jona Camacho is one of the most sought-after talents in contemporary Colombian music. His talent as songwriter and musician, coupled with his great versatility and charisma on stage, Jona Camacho delivers an explosive combination of musical expressions that wander through fusions of Rock, Pop, and R&B, all of which are aided by his impressive vocal abilities.
Born in Ibague, Colombia Jona Camacho began forming and developing his musical abilities at age 14 as a student at the Music Conservatory of Tolima, where he studied classical music and percussion. During his early teens, Jona Camacho stood out from the rest of his class peers for his arrangements for orchestra and String quartets. While studying orchestrations, Jona Camacho learned to play several instruments and ventured as a self-taught musician playing the drums, guitar, piano, bass, banjo, and accordion among others.
Jona's first EP “Sincopado, Vol 1” was released in the summer of 2017 and included the song “Dulce Vino”. This song solidified him as one of Colombia’s rising stars in the Latin R&B movement with impressive streaming numbers on all digital platforms. In 2018 he signed a worldwide publishing deal with peermusic in the USA and immediately released his follow up EP “Sincopado, Vol 2”. In June of 2019 he released his 3rd EP "Plastico" and made his first trip to the USA debuting at the KCRW monthly series chido/chevere/cool, followed by 3 showcases at the Latin Alternative Music Conference in NYC.
In May 2020 -- mid pandemic -- Jona released his highly anticipated LP ‘Memento’ which solidified his place in the Latin landscape, positioning him as a leader at the forefront of the R&B movement.
An emotional journey through love and memories, the album is made for contemporary audiences longing for something refreshing yet familiar, exuding a compelling sense of nostalgia by incorporating vintage sounds with modern elements. ‘Memento’ has garnered significant praise from the industry’s top outlets, including Billboard, which recently named the artist to their list “17 Male Latin Artists To Discover During Quarantine,” as well as KCRW, Remezcla, CNN en Español, and Revista Shock, among others.
